FEB Day 12 : Destinations you dream of travelling to

I’m just going to dive right into it and say Japan. Of course, as a young kid I already dreamed of travelling the world, but then Japan would be on top of that list.

I’m not sure how or why, but ever since I started to get hooked on anime and jdoramas in my younger years, I started to feel this need of going to Japan and see the country. Won’t you believe that I specifically learned how to use the chopsticks so that I could use the skill when I go to Japan?

So many things I really want to see and try out there. There’s this gut feeling I get that I knew something fun and exciting is going to happen once I set foot in Japan. Do you ever get such feeling?

Anyway, just to share a few reasons why I dream of travelling to Japan. (I just mentioned Japan 6 times. ok make that 7. Ha!)

Cherry Blossoms (Sakura)

Anyone who have read some of my previous posts would know of my love for cherry blossoms. Not to mention that there’s a very obvious cherry blossom gif when you visit my blog. They are, for me, one of God’s beautiful creations and something you think you’d only find in a fantasy realm.

FYI (an excerpt from google)

The cherry blossoms symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life. The transience of the blossoms, the exquisite beauty and volatility, has often been associated with mortality and gracefulness and readily acceptance of destiny and karma.

Kimono

I dream of wearing a kimono and having my picture taken under a beautiful sakura tree in spring time. That would be a huge tick on my bucket list once it happens. When I learned that it is possible for tourists/foreigners to wear a kimono and walk while wearing it on the streets of Japan, I was totally over the moon. I can’t wait for the day I get to experience it as well.

An outdoor Onsen

An onsen is basically a japanese hot spring and very popular among the japanese and the tourists as well. Though there’s an indoor onsen, I prefer the outdoor one with a nice view of nature. There’s a japanese show I’ve watched before where the people are having a relaxing conversation  in an onsen and behind them was a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji. Like OMG! I need to get in there ASAP!

Anyway, a day in an onsen is an effective way to relax my tired bones and I don’t even care if I have to go naked – Japanese often talk of the virtues of “naked communion” for breaking down barriers and getting to know people in the relaxed atmosphere of a ryokan (inn) with an attached onsen.

FYI (an excerpt from google)

Onsen water is believed to have healing powers derived from its mineral content. A particular onsen may feature several different baths, each with water of a different mineral composition. The outdoor bath tubs are often made from Japanese cypress, marble, or granite, while indoor tubs may be made from tile, acrylic glass, or stainless steel. Particular onsens may also promote the special mineral composition of their waters, together with the healing properties these may have. Other services, such as massages, may also be offered.

How beautiful are those waters?

Food

One of my favorite cusines in the world is japanese food. I don’t think I need to elaborate on that. Everyone should try a good japanese food. It is simply delicious. Nom Nom Nom 😀

All Things Kawaii

I adore cute things and Japan is number one when it comes to producing cute stuffs. Whether it is a toy, food, outfits, shoes, accessories, cosmetics – everything you can think of – they certainly got it.

FEB Day 11 : Three Favorite Book Characters

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy

I adore Lizzy and Mr. Darcy. They are for me the perfect couple despite each other’s faults. It might seem that they won’t end up together but they did and I was pleased. True love does find a way to bring two hearts meant for  each other.

eb

Elizabeth Bennet, one of the two central characters in Pride and Prejudice is regarded as one of Jane Austen’s “most admirable and endearing heroines” and I could not agree more.  I adored her character for the simple fact that she’s a woman with a mind of her own. I liked her character because of how I find her relatable plus I love that she’s a well-read person who is full of wit and intelligence.

Mr. Darcy, on the other hand, is the other half of Pride and Prejudice’s central character. He is the epitome of a “aloof, romantic hero”, which made him my Ideal Man for years. I was really rooting for him to end up with Elizabeth and was really happy when they did. I had so much feels every time these two characters appear in every chapter. Anyways, they certainly both are on top of my favorites list.

Hermione Granger

hemione

Hermione is one of the protagonist of the Harry Potter books. Like Elizabeth Bennet, she too loves to read. Already, I’m giving her 100 points just for that reason. Her extensive knowledge of different subjects has helped her, Harry and Ron in getting out of sticky situations. Her logical mind and upright behaviour, may have annoyed some characters in the books, but she’s a perfect know-it-all and I love her for it.

FEB Day 10 : Your Favorite Book

The hardest question I’ve had so far.

I don’t have a favorite book. I love too many books for me to pick just one. I could name a few books that inspired me, books that made me laugh, books that intrigued me, but I’ve yet to find that one book to rule them all (Lord of the Rings anyone? Heh!). So I’m sorry, but I cannot answer this question. Instead, I am going to recommend some books I’ve read that holds a certain meaning for me – made me laugh, made me cry, made me think etc.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

alchemist

I love this book because of its deep message about following our own dreams and listening to our hearts. I’ve read this one in college and I’ve never forgotten its message. I would love to give an in-depth explanation of the story, but that won’t be fun. I really recommend that you all read it. One of my favorite books from Paulo Coelho.

Harry Potter Books by J.K. Rowling

Come on! Who could ever forget the Boy who Lived? These are the most magical books I’ve ever read. Everything about it – the plot, the characters, the covers – is perfection. Though the central theme of the story is death (according to J.K.Rowling), it still talks of loyalty, friendship and of course, LOVE which is said to be the most powerful magic there is. I just love these books to pieces! Or maybe I’m just biased because I’m such a Potter Fan! ❤

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

pp

Honestly, I’ve only read a few classical books, and one of them was Pride and Prejudice. It was also the first classical book I’ve ever read. I think I was 15 when saw this book in our school library and just thought I’d give it a try. It was a spur of the moment decision and I was glad I did because I really fell in love with the story. It certainly introduced me to my first ever book character crush one of the most arrogantly dreamy characters there is – Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes by Edith Hamilton

myth

At one point in my life, I’ve become OBSESSED with this book! You have no idea how much. After reading this book, I’ve done research for every god and goddess there is. This book talks of Greek mythology, but I’ve extended my obsession to the Roman, Egyptian, and Norse mythology. I’ve become a total nerd for ancient mythology. They have such amazing stories and explanations to everything, like why the Sunflower follows the sun, and why there’s winter and spring. So many fascinating stories. Might be why I also like reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Anyway, the sun god, Apollo, is my all-time favorite god. He’s both Greek and Roman. ❤

Master of the Game by Sydney Sheldon

master

I don’t read thick novels in high school because of the simple fact that I feel I won’t be able to finish them. Plus, like I’ve mentioned before, I only read Sweet Valley High which are light reads. So imagine how out of nowhere I’m suddenly reading a Sydney Sheldon novel at 14 years of age. And I am so grateful I did, because this is the first book that made me start reading thick novels. It’s basically the story spanning four generations of lives in the MacGregor/Blackwell family.

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

angels

Dan Brown became such a controversial author after releasing his novel The Da Vinci Code. However, I think he’s a great author because I happen to have read all his released novels and enjoyed most of them – The Lost Symbol One was not as good as the others. Anyway, my favorite was his first novel, Angels and Demons, where the story focuses on the secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati. It’s a suspenseful novel that kept me wide awake all night. One of those books that you just can’t put down until you get to the end.

———–0000000000———–0000000000————0000000000———-0000000000———–

Oooookkkaaaayyy!!!! I’m stopping right here and right now before this post becomes a novel. And those are just a few of the many, many books that I love.

FEB Day 9 : Five things to do more often

In  no particular order:

I love to read and I’m sure I’ve mentioned that so many times here in my blog. However, I have not read a single book for months now. I have bought books that are currently just stacked in my closet. Books I have not finished reading and some which are still waiting to be read. I miss reading a good book and I know I just need to give some time for it.

Talk to family

Not that I don’t talk to them, but because I’m oceans away, I am only able to have a chat with them via facebook from time to time. Anyway, I just feel I should talk to them more if that makes sense.

Be patient

Patience is not my greatest virtue. I am guilty of that. I especially hated waiting… any form of waiting is hard for me unless I am doing something to take my mind off of waiting. If, for example, I’m going to meet a person at a mall and that person happens to be late, that person should be sure that there’s a freakin’ bookstore inside that mall so I’ll have a place to pass the time or else I’d be really annoyed. So yes, I need to be a more patient person or at least learn how to be one.

Find new experiences to try

Life is short and having new experiences and taking chances is beautiful. Joining the Color Run last month was a new experience and I really had fun. This year I’m hoping to find new things to try out whether it would be a new place to eat or a new hobby to do. I think that would make life more interesting and fun! 😀

Travel

I haven’t done a lot of travelling which I feel sad about because I’ve always dreamed of travelling. It was one my life goals when I was a kid. If I’m going to choose just one thing in this list I want to do more, this would be number one. I just want to see the world and we only have one life here on earth unless you believe in reincarnation and I think we should take this chance to see it all.

The Happiest 5K on the Planet

…A good laugh and a long run are the two best cures for anything…

What is the happiest 5K on the planet? That’s right!

It’s the Color Run! 😀

So what is the Color Run?

The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet, is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, and individuality.

I’ve always wanted to be a part of the Color Run event since I first heard of it here in Doha. I was a bit bummed when I was not able to attend last year because it clashed with my work schedule. When it was announced last December that there will be another Color Run to be held on the 28th of January, I knew I had to attend this time. Amazingly, the date happens to be my Beau and I’s 40th monthsary as a couple and I knew it would be a perfect way to celebrate. 😀

We bought our tickets earlier in November (not that we are excited. he!) and we were able to avail the tickets in its cheapest price. We bought 1 Solo Runner worth 150 QR for my Beau and 1 Deluxe Runner worth 230 QR for me. I intentionally chose the Deluxe Runner because there’s more cute stuffs included in it like the socks, the shades and the tutu skirt. Of course, you can avail that individually if you like, but the Deluxe Runner includes VIP parking space. I’ve heard from a friend who attended the color run before that there were thousands of people last year – I don’t think I want to have problems with parking later on just in case.

Me at 7 in the morning disturbing the maintenance peeps. 😀

We arrived at the QNCC (Qatar National Convention Center) with perfect weather at 7 in the morning. The day started of with a lot of selfies and photo-takings here and there. You can see groups of people, young and old, dancing at the loud beat of the music coming from the speakers all over the place. You can definitely feel the excitement in the air as we wait for the program to start.

The program started at more or less 9am, if I remember correctly, and everybody were running towards the mini stage were the host of the event was.

So here are some pictures we’ve taken.

THE CROWD

There were 7000 runners this year. Amazing right?

ZUMBA TIME!

Like most events, a little warm up to loosen those bones up is must! These beautiful ladies were definitely helpful in doing just that! Zumba time everyone! 😀

With the sun on our faces. 😀

COLORFUL ROADS AHEAD!

We had so much fun running our way towards the finish line. Even the people tossing the colors at us were definitely having fun. Come to think of it, I think they definitely had the most fun! I guess I would too if I aim to paint everyone in my path blue. Ha!

We started with Yellow – Orange – Blue – Green – FINISH!

THE FINISH FESTIVAL

Hands down the most fun! People, young and old, dancing and jumping and singing everywhere! Icing on the cake was when the colors were thrown up in the air as it synchronizes beautifully with the beat of the music.

Sharing this video cut at the Finish Festival. Sorry for the quality. It was sent to me via FB messenger so I downloaded it from there and uploaded it to YT. I’ll update it once I get the copy directly.

Such a perfect way to end the 5K run! ❤
